The Werkshop Book Club

I personally have always had a love hate relationship with reading. An odd thing coming from a professional writer but I believe it stems from favoring writing over reading and the amount of reading required when obtaining a degree in English and Writing.

That said, I have once again fallen in love with books, especially those in the branding, marketing, and business realm. The funny thing is how easy it was to get back into the habit. Reading 10 to 20 pages a day allows me to finish most books in two or three weeks.

This resurgence of reading is also impart that at Werkshop we’ve been using reading as a vital part of continuing education for our field. This practice has led to the inception of our very own impromptu: Werkshop Book Club. Passing and sharing reads on a variety of subjects that all make us better people and better professionals.

While we have an ever growing list of book titles we’re passing around, I thought I’d share a few of my recent favorites with the Werkshop faithful.

These books have sharpened our focuses, “Start with Why”, crafted a relentless attitude, “The Obstacle is the Way”, taught us further concepts, “Lovemarks”, and inspired deeper, stronger relationships with our clients and their audiences. LaVar Burton said it best on Reading Rainbow: Take a look, it’s in a book.

  • Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action Simon Sinek
  • The Obstacle is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph Ryan Holiday
  • Lovemarks – Kevin Roberts
  • Purple Cow: Transform your Business by Being Remarkable – Seth Godin
  • Growth Hacker Marketing – Ryan Holiday

Happy reading! If you’ve got a great book you’d like to share let us know!
